Enough is enough when you realise you have lost balance. I believe that Second Life is a wonderful platform for socialising and for creative expression. I have met some incredible people through SL. However, the term "Second Life," does not imply that this really should be a life unto itself. It is a hobby for many, a business interest for some... but it should be simply a part of life and not take over it. For me, I balance a healthy real life, seeing my friends and family and taking care of real life business matters, with a good dose of Second Life. If I ever felt that balance coming into question, that's when I would walk and find alternative means of keeping in touch with friends from in world.

For now though? No... I'm happy with things as is.

Side note: I'm very sorry to hear Prad will not be blogging anymore. I absolutely love his posts.

I'm with your man on this one, B-diggity. I've taken a few breaks myself. Sometimes they're permanent, sometimes not, but they're always for a purpose.

I had a fine group of friends a few years ago that I don't talk to anymore because I realized that they weren't growing as people, and I was, so I said enough was enough and walked away from them. I bet they're still sitting around telling the same jokes and stories as they were last year, and the year before that.

What you really have to consider is why. Why am I walking away? If it's selfish and destructive, then maybe you're not making the right choice.. but if you feel strongly about it, maybe you are.

I'm speaking in general terms, of course.

I've taken a few 'Sabbaticals' from various internet activities. Sometime you are forced to due to circumstances. Other times, you have to, whether it's to reflect, cool down, recharge, or whatever. Sure, persons that choose not to continue to participate will be missed. But it was their choice, and have to respect that.

Though, even if someone walks away, that doesn't mean they will never come back. There's always that chance that a person might return, especially if they have something to say or do. So just means a time to re-evaluate and assess what one truly wants to do.
