Let me just say right off, this is just MY opinion. Not right or wrong, just my opinion. Ok then.
People what are you thinking? Have you looked at yourself? Is this the image you really want your avatar to portray? Gentlemen, your neck and your legs really shouldn’t be the same size. Your waist really shouldn’t be smaller than mine. And those shoulders…. bigger isn’t always better you know. Really, it isn’t. Ask anyone. So back off on the sliders a bit. I’m not saying that every guy has to be a GQ model, geez that would be boring, but you all don’t have to be Mr Universe right off the bodybuilding tour either. 
Pretty muscled boys are a dime a dozen in SL. Where are all the less muscled geeks? The guys who spend more time thinking about the world they are in rather than what they look like in it. Those are the guys I want to meet.
Ladies ladies ladies…. The waif look is out, has been for a long time. Put some meat on those bones ok. Oh, I should be able to see your face without having to cam over your boobs. Just sayin. Although in my experience, most of the *ladies* I’ve met with boobs maxed out on the sliders are really guys in RL. Just sayin. 
Curves are great, they give us character. But do your hips have to be wider than Mr Universe’s shoulders? Put a system skirt on and see what happens, you’ll be cursing those hips. Now, has anyone heard the saying *Here’s my head, my ass is coming*? That’s all I can think of when I see some avatars whose rear end really seems to stick out about 3 feet.(yes I know, an exaggeration but you get my point) I’m not saying everyone should have a flat butt either. There is a happy medium isn’t there?
Like I said these are just my opinions. Like them, don’t like them. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Have a different view? Then share it. Yes, I’m sure you probably think my shape is too *normal*, too *RL*. Yep it is. It’s what I wanted, a nice proportioned, toned body. Will I change it? Nope. I’m short in RL so I’m short in SL. This is how I want to look.
So you then ask, why can’t everyone look they want. They can. They do. I started this by saying, this is MY opinion. My personal views, not suggesting in any way that anyone needs to agree. I’m just sharing my thoughts, likes, dislikes. This is MY blog afterall. Don’t like it, too bad.

I love this post
It is so easy to go over the top with the sliders, to have the sex god or sex goddess figure that you wish you really had, which is probably why there are so many he-men and she-cats inworld.
Me? large boobs (as in RL) small waist and avarage hips, and Yes, I do like how I look ;p
It is all about personal choice, and finding somewhere with the right shape – not always easy to do without spending a fortune first on mistakes. All the cheaper stores all seem to have the tight butt, huge chest, thick neck look for men, and the super curved, long legged look for women. I find Redgrave excellent, but not very cheap!
And, btw, nothing wrong with your shape. We are who we are, who we are, and that is all that matters.

LOL Bailey. I’ve participated in several blog discussions about avatar appearance and shape. And despite resolving over and over and over to be less judgmental…. well, I’m with you on this one!!
I do very little fine-tuning to my appearance. I look okay and that’s fine with me, despite what some say to me (as I dutifully blog!). So maybe I’m lazy, maybe I’m too realistic, but yeah – back off on those sliders!!
So nice to hear another woman speaking her mind!

Yes, yes and YES to your comments — i am sooooo tired of meeting blokes with shoulders like London Bridge and head the size of golf balls – they make me think of Popeye or some other cartoon character.
That said — there is a LOT to be said about having a *custom* shape — most of the prefab ones are no mod and really, really should be.
The maxed out boob sliders usually go with maxed out hip sliders and DO indicate a female av who is perhaps — at least a pre op male.
My body shape in SL is my RL body shape — minus 2 kids, some stretch marks and about 20 years of gravitational damage — but it’s still real — in both worlds i have moderate boobs, and real hips and a real bum – if we are able to indulge in a bit of fanstasy, let’s not turn it into something that could be a Frazetta painting of Tits and Lizards!
@Ahuva – I try not to be judgemental too and fail miserably everytime. I honestly believe that everyone should look as they wish to but sometimes I just cringe. As my mom says often, *did they look in the mirror before they went out?* To each his own though.
I’ve been forbidden to change my shape by a very good photographer I model for now and then, so no tweaking for me.
@Mars – my body shape in SL isn’t my RL body shape. It’s what it should be and will be again one of these days. RL and SL I’m happy with what I’ve got. But I’ll happily share the little extra bit around the hips.
